Anti-wrinkle injections FAQs

Am I a candidate for anti wrinkle injections cosmetic?

We’re committed to personalized care, and we only administer treatment if it’s truly in the patient’s best interest. As such, we determine candidacy for all of our procedures on an individual basis, following a thorough discussion of your cosmetic goals, concerns and desires. However, most individuals are considered to be candidates if they are between 18 and 65 years of age and wish to smooth crow’s feet, frown lines, laugh lines and forehead wrinkles without undergoing an invasive surgical procedure.

Are anti-wrinkle injections safe?

Botulinum Toxin has been used for a multitude of medical treatments for over 30 years, in both adults and children. It has been licensed for cosmetic purposes for around 18 years, with a second-to-none safety profile. Injections are a very safe cosmetic treatment when performed by a medical professional. The treatment itself uses a prescription-only medically regulated toxin, so it can only be administered by a qualified medical professional.

How long does treatment last?

The results are not permanent, and the effects wear off over time. It is recommended that to maintain the results of injections you would have treatment 2-3 times a year, in order to keep the treatment refined and topped up, rather than letting results totally diminish and starting again from scratch. Dermal Fillers

Dermal Fillers

Dermal Fillers are designed to plump skin for a youthful glow.

When we age, the amount of collagen, elastin tissue and hyaluronic acid decreases, leading to a loss of volume and there fore the appearance of lines. This is can be sped up with certain lifestyle factors such as expo sure to sunlight and smoking. A great way of reducing these lines and increase volume in certain areas, is to use injectable facial fillers. Also some fillers have been proven to restart your own natural collagen production, literally giving you younger, fresher skin.

Dermal Fillers FAQs

What areas can be treated with dermal fillers?

Facial fillers can be used to increase volume and shape, as well as smooth out skin on the face. The commonest areas that I treat are the naso-labial folds (nose to mouth), marionette lines (below the mouth to the jawline) and lips.

There are different fillers used depending on the area to be treated, and the volume of filler needed to treat an area.

How do dermal fillers work?

Using a tiny needle, the filler is injected just below the skin. The filler will immediately provide volume and therefore an instant result is seen. The skin will look plumper, smoother and therefore younger.

Fillers can be natural or syntheticand are biodegradable gels. Therefore over time they will gradually disperse, and provide a safe and very natural way of reducing lines.

What can I expect after dermal filler treatment?

The treatment takes approximately 30-45 minutes to administer. If necessary, topical anaesthetic is applied 30 minutes prior to treatment in order to numb the skin. Local anaesthetic (dental) can also be used for lip fillers. The filler is then applied through several careful injections in the treatment area.

The results appear immediately, and will last from 6 months to 12 months depending on the filler used. Over this time the body will slowly break down the product.

Are dermal fillers safe?

There are many products available on the market, and some practitioners have no medical qualifications. Therefore I would always recommend knowing who is injecting your skin and what they are using! In my hands I only use facial fillers with a proven track record with well known brand names (Juvederm).

Treatment should be avoided in those that are pregnant or breast feeding, and if any skin infections are present in the area such as acne or cold sores.

Do dermal fillers hurt?

Certain areas of the face are more sensitive than others – any discomfort is very temporary , and obviously minimised by using local anaesthetic cream immediately before treatment. Some fillers also contain local anaesthetics reducing the discomfort immediately.

Do dermal fillers have side effects?

If they do occur, they are temporary. The commonest is some slight bruising and swelling at injection site.
